Let it Snow

I learned a long time ago that in order to enjoy the cold climate here in the Northeast I needed to dress appropriately.  I love fashionable boots and cloths but I can’t run around in the snow in them.  A pair of sturdy boots, a good hat, and a parka that means business are my tickets to outdoor freedom in this frosty region.   Winter… bring it on!  I’m ready.

Today while I was shoveling snow (and taking a few pictures) I thought about how often we do things without the right clothes.  What I mean is that we don’t do what we must so that we can really enjoy life, work, relationships, ourselves.

What do you need to do in order to take care of yourself at work, at home, in relationships?  Do you need to take more frequent breaks to keep yourself mentally and physically sharp, for example?  Do you need to schedule some time to catch up on a pile of books that you’ve been wanting to read?  Do you need to call a friend and reconnect just because it would feel absolutely delightful to do so?  Or, do you need to tell someone how you really feel about a situation that is troubling you?

Taking care of yourself is your responsibility – no one can do it for you.  And that’s the good news!

How can you take care of yourself today?
